One of the things that I find the most difficult to adapt to, is the Angolan sense of time. Everything takes longer than I’m used to and everyone seems to take it with stoic calm.
People seem to be working all the time. I especially admire the women who walk around the city carrying merchandise on the top of their heads and their children attached to their backs. When they get home they need to cook, wash the laundry etc. but instead of trying to make things easier for themselves, they cook elaborate meals and hand-wash and iron the laundry after every single use it seems. Even the ones that are better off and have a maid always seem to find something to do. For example, one of our friends makes orange juice which requires dismantling the whole orange and removing all skin (not just the peel) for her husband. I tried to help her do this the other day, but gave up after half an orange… the most redundant job in the whole world!
Often people will show up at the most unusual hours for a visit or they say they will meet you a certain day in the afternoon and then don’t show up at all and when you call them to ask where they are, they usually have a ready excuse. The most popular one is the traffic congestion, which is a very good one. I think I just need to relax a bit and not base my plans too much on other people. Just go with the flow ;-)

Mikið er gaman að lesa hvað hefur drifið á daga ykkar þarna úti.
Þið eruð svo mikið ævintýrafólk bæði tvö og mikið svakalega ertu dugleg að vera farin að lesa og skilja tungumálið VÁ ég þyrfti örugglega lágmark ársdvöl áður en ég myndi átta mig á hvaða tungumál ég væri að læra heheheahah

Frábært hvað þið eruð dugleg að uppfæra síðuna - fylgist spennt með ævintýrunum. Ég hefði kannski gott af smá svona æfingu í þolinmæði, mér hefur allavega skilist það að það sé ekki mín sterkasta hlið hehe :D
